After reading this article, you will get to know whether kissing before marriage is good or not. Teenagers today have fallen into this practice of smooching or kissing, and nothing at all prompts them to quit because they think it’s normal. This is often seen among teenagers who have just launched dating and have not even talked about serious relationships.
Before we make anything, let’s ask ourselves:
Is kissing before marriage a sin?
Is it prudent or wise, according to the Bible?
Perhaps, you reading my heartwarming article, might be a victim of this smooching and, as a result, can be ignorant or deliberate.
Let’s be clear: Is kissing or smooching before marriage a sin, okay or not wise, according to the Bible?
Kissing and French kissing are usual activities between dating and married couples. We will answer the question or query: “Is smooching OR kissing before marriage a sin, okay or not wise according to the Bible?”
Bible doctrines about kissing and French kissing:
I have two fundamental passages that will give you a biblical doctrine about kissing before marriage. The first passage is 2 Timothy 2:22.
FLEE THE EVIL DESIRES OF YOUTH AND PURSUE RIGHTEOUSNESS, FAITH, LOVE, AND PEACE.
2 TIMOTHY 2:22 (NIV)
The passage grips us to flee the robust lusts that occur in youth. Let me explain some terms for you to understand this well. The Greek word that is translated as “flee” is pheugo, which means “to avoid doing something.”
Also, the Greek word for “youth” or “youthful,” as the (NASB) version will say, is neoterikos which refers to an adolescent or young adult. The Greek word for “lust” is epithumia. This word refers to strong passions and emotions.
In brief, the command “flee from youthful lust,” which the (NASB) version will say, implies we are to evade or resist the very strong lusts that occur at a young age. These lusts are enormous in adolescents and usually decrease with age.
This verse teaches that we should refrain from deliberately inducing ourselves to experience especially strong passions at a young age. Many passions are general in youth; sexual passions are the strongest of all emotions.
Therefore teenagers or unmarried couples are to resist situations that intentionally cause sexual emotions and passion or excitement.
What can stimulate sexual passions and emotions?
The clue is, touching someone of the opposite sex or daydreaming about someone of the opposite sex.
Matthew 5:27-28 warns us not to indulge in thinking about having sex with another person who is not our husband or wife. This means it is a sin for an unmarried man or woman, especially teenagers, to do anything that will cause him or herself to be intentionally sexually stimulated. When we cause someone to whom we are not married to be sexually stimulated, we can cause them to fumble.
Matthew 18:7 cautions us not to cause another person to stumble.
WOE TO THE WORLD BECAUSE OF ITS STUMBLING BLOCKS! IT IS INEVITABLE THAT STUMBLING BLOCKS COME, BUT WOE TO THAT MAN THROUGH WHOM THE STUMBLING BLOCKS COME!
MATTHEW 18:7 (NASB)
If we combine all these passages, we will learn that we sin when we do not flee from sexual sins and when we cause others to be sexually incited if we are not married to them.
From what you have heard, is kissing before marriage a sin?
These help to conclude that kissing before marriage is a sin if it causes someone to be sexually stimulated. Kissing is a sexual act and, therefore, a sin; teenagers or unmarried pairs now dating shouldn’t take this act as ordinary. God is against it!
